 In a very revealing and detailed article by Matt Pierce that was posted in The L.A. Times, we are reminded of the reason why measles vaccinations are needed: "...measles, which was similar to smallpox..."

"2014: The worst American measles outbreak in two decades erupted, with more than 600 cases reported -- more than triple the 2013 total. One outbreak came in unvaccinated Amish communities in Ohio"   By the way, measles can kill.

Harper Lee to Publish New Novel after To Kill a Mockingbird

To Kill a Mockingbird author Harper Lee to publish 'sequel' after a 55 year wait:The Guardian: Harper Lee to publish new novel, 55 years after ... To Kill a Mockingbird, an international bestseller and enduring classic, was released in 1960 and promptly won the Pulitzer Prize in 1961. Colleen McCullough Dies at age 77, Author of Thorn Birds

Colleen McCullough, the author of the internationally acclaimed bookThe Thorn Birds, died at age 77.

"She was one of the first Australian writers to succeed on the world stage," HarperCollins Australia publishing director Shona Martyn said.
